More than 200 riders at the first event of the new, non-competitive format under the SloEnduro roof. Thanks to the TCS hosts, this was unforgettable!
SloEnduro Day was introduced this year as a simple concept of a non-competitive event. The only things that smell a bit like racing are the number plates and a timing service. The timing guys will inform you of your achievements every time the do the read-out of your transponder. Your times give you a cue to chat with a friend, a racing competitor, a stranger, etc., either immediately or later at lunch or at the afterparty. There are no results or similar list of achievements. But sooner or later, rumours spread about who was really fast, who came in under two and a half minutes and similar trail myths.
We have set the guidelines, and of this year’s three organisers, each will understand SloEnduro Day a little bit differently, delevop their own ideas and make the most of what they’ve got.
The “first ever” organisers, the TCS trail builders’ association from Nova Gorica (in cover photo), have decided to take fun on wheels very seriously. Probably not only because they like to show their terrain at its best, but also because they have never held a SloEnduro race. They have taken the event as a tribe reunion, like their legendary MTBrigades trail work days.
They have prepared two great tracks with new sections, engaged an army of hard-working hands, prepared everything needed around the trails… And the response exceeded all expectations, with more than 200 riders from Austria, Croatia, Italy and Slovenia coming to Solkan. From the riders who can’t wait for the SloEnduro Kamplc (6/7 April) to many who put on a start number for the first time.
Let the online posts, photos and videos tell the story of a whole day of great fun, smiles and hanging out.
The standards of SloEnduro Day are set very high right from the start. But now we know that the next events will be fun too. We hope to see old and new SloEnduro Day fans in Klagenfurt on 11 May and on the Cilenca trails in Zagorje ob Savi a week later!
