Beginning of September means return to school. This year it also means a return to racing in SloEnduro series since we’ve been on a break since late June. So for the primary and high school bunch among the SloEnduro riders it’s a double restart this weekend!
After last year’s SloEnduro Gorjanci we already called it a classic. This year’s third edition of SloEnduro Gorjanci to be held this weekend, September 2/3 above the city of Novo mesto by the Zverinice (Beasts) club, will be round six and the penultimate round of this year’s series. So the battle for top positions may start untangling in most of the categories while staying unresolved in others.
The Beasts prepare a treat
You have probably seen three special stages mention in the propositions. There will be four special stages! After last year’s premiere of Šerif trail this time The Beats prepared two completely new trails. The existing trails are also changed and even rerouted. The climbing elevation is not slightly above the one in the propositions: approximately 1200 vertical meters on the long course, 610 m on the short course and 350 m on the U13 course.

The riders are already familiar with the venue at the Trdinov vrh hunting lodge in Kavce, Gabrje.
The course will get its share of rain these days but the weather forecast for the weekend looks perfect.
The field
Everyone from the top of the rankings will be there. The overall ranking leader and defending champion Miha Smrdel (MBK Črni Vrh) who missed last two rounds has a gap of just 60 points on second ranked Nejc Huth (Energijateam.com) and a 100 more on his own teammate Jernej Kavčič in third. David Ivartnik (Golovec trails) and Miha Jerkič (KK Črn trn) follow in fourth and fifth, both also missed the last round, the SloEnduro Krokar. The national champion Vid Peršak (Orbea Fox Enduro Team) is sixts but he will miss SloEnduro Gorjanci for a World Cup race in France.
In women’s field it will be easy for Tina Smrdel (MBK Črni Vrh) to defend her lead, she ha a lead of 760 points over her teammate Maja Vojska. Tamara Homar (ŠKD Super potencial) is in third place.
In junior men’s category the third placed Jerkič will be trying to catch up with the leader Maj Babačič (Calcit bike team) and the second placed Jan Polovšak (Bosch Black Hole enduro team). Only 80 points separate the three.
In men’s under 17 category the two time winner Anže Kofjač (KK Završnica) is well set in first, the serial winner Nežka Libnik (Bosch Black Hole enduro team) even more in the female U17 category.
Marko Fink (KD Zverinice) who will be riding in his home race is the strong leader of Master 1 category, Grega Nagode (Energijateam.com) will be defending his lead in Master 2 and the unbeaten Martin Brus (Kamplc racing team) can already smell another title in Master 3. Žiga Šemrov (ŠKD Super potencial) is leading the amateur class after missing out on a win only twice this year.
Jakob Praček (Kamplc) and Vita Vaner (DGK Pohorje – Spank team) are safely on top in the boys and girls U15 categories, respectively. Tjaž Stres (Kamplc) is leading in U13 boys and Eva Podvornik (DGK Pohorje – Spank team) in U13 girls category.
