This weekend, September 6 and 7, Golovec trails will host it’s first SloEnduro series points race. The courses will be longer for this occasion, and a special challenge has been prepared for e-bikers. Once again, the event is part of the Ljubljana MTB Vikend festival.
Since 2018, the Golovec trails club has been organizing “promotional” races within the SloEnduro series on trails they are maintaining in the heart of the Slovenian capital. The popular race has attracted both top competitors and rookies, but did not award points for the SloEnduro series.
This year will be different! For the first time 250 riders from nine countries will come to Golovec to earn points for the SloEnduro series. At least most of them, as the 4Fun and e-bike categories do not have their own rankings. This will be the sixth and penultimate race of this year’s series.
Eight Plus One Stage
The promotional version of the enduro race at Golovec was a little too short for cup race standards, so this time SloEnduro Golovec trails will offer eight special stages and a total elevation difference of around 1000 meters on the long course. The eighth stage, also the Shimano SuperStage, is completely new, while the others are more or less familiar to park visitors, but with a few changes.

“Since the race is held in the park, it is not a classic enduro race on lesser-known terrain. We aimed to make it fun,” says Tadej Tekavčič, head of the organization and president of Golovec trails club.
A completely new feature will the additional “power stage” for the e-bike category, which will be held for the first time as a mass start stage! This will certainly be an attraction for spectators. There are 13 riders registered in the e-bike category.

Plus this from the course…
The field
Miha Smrdel (MBK Črni Vrh) will try to close the gap on Hungary’s Aron Babo (Rad Company), who will perhaps be looking for consolation after disappointment at the world championships. David Ivartnik (Golovec trails), currently sixth in the rankings, will certainly be dangerous on home turf. After suffering a concussion in the spring, Tim Krašovec (Wolf Racing by Wheelbase) will finally be at the start. The entire junior national team will also be here straight from the world championship, and they are likely to dominate the top of the rankings again, while also trying to catch up with Babo in the junior rankings. Among the women, we will also welcome the new yojunioruth world champion Nežka Libnik (KK Ravne na Koroškem), who has five wins from the first five SloEnduro races.
Once again, the largest number of entries are from under 17 and under 15 male categories riders, with just under 50 competitors in each of these two categories.

Trackside
The final day of the Ljubljana MTB Vikend festival, which will take place on Friday and Saturday at the Ljubljana Bike Park in Podutik on the other side of the city, and on Sunday it will move to the SloEnduro Golovec trails venue with an event area in front of the Urban Ring hotel between Dolenjska cesta and the railway line, will also feature a record number of exhibitors.
Most of the exhibitors will come from Podutik, with a few additional ones. We counted 14 exhibition tents on the plan, plus a massage tent, and test bikes will also be available. The club’s instructor will guide anyone who wants to explore the trails on Golovec (where the race will not take place) starting at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Everyone is also kindly invited to watch (or participate in) the festival events on Friday and Saturday in Podutik. The training schedule on Golovec also allows you to watch the evening highlights of the program in Podutik, such as big line session and the FMB series freestyle competition finals.
