The third and final SloEnduro Day of the inaugural season of this new non-competitive event format under the SloEnduro roof is now in the books.
Just like the TCS in Solkan in March and more recently the Klagenfurt Tourism in conjunction with the mtb9020 club on Falkenberg hill, the organisation of the Zagorska dolina Cycling Club at the Cilenca Trails in Zagorje ob Savi, Slovenia exceeded the expectations and standards we had set for these events before the season. Unfortunately, due to a combination of circumstances, this time with a slightly smaller number of riders, just under a hundred. But they came from near and far and spent a great day on the Cilenca trails.
Two trails were on the menu, Jumanji and the Hacksaw Ridge, each for three hours, timed of course by our timing service Mags Timing. After a wet week, the trails were drying nicely, but some parts were still “greased”, so especially on the Ridge it was not a good idea to switch to autopilot.
We know, SloEnduro Day is not a race, but we should mention that the event was nicely enlivened by the Koroška and Primorska regions riders, who also let off the brakes and set some nice times.
Both trails run into the Evropark sports and recreation park, where the local pump track is also located. There was also good food and drink (thanks to the Grčar catering), Red Bull’s Krpan armoured car provided the soundtrack, Trbovlje’s Blokada shop took care of the bike fleet’s health, and two Slovenian brands presented themselves: socks and more from Furam Zase and Dirt Specific protective stickers – the latter also taking care of the design of the SloEnduro number plates this year.
There were also prizes awarded at the end. There was no special prize for a broken frame this time (thankfully), the oldest and youngest participant and more “winners” were found, of course, but for the prizes for the younger participants, local legend Goran (in cover photo), who was trusted with the microphone, came up with a Gorč Challenge – games that earned them prizes.
The event was also supported by the Municipality of Zagorje ob Savi, the local sports organisation, Medis and Avtohiša Kržišnik. And of course it wouldn’t have been possible without the loyal volunteers and members of KK Zagorska dolina.
The Cilenca trails season is just getting off to a good start. They are soon to start renovating the Forrest Bump flow trail, follow their announcements and try it out before the summer! @cilencatrails
