The second race of the season on six specials stages, in ideal conditions as it seems and again in good international company.
Just a fortnight after the first race in Nova Gorica, the SloEnduro series continues this weekend, on 26 ans 27 April, in Ilirska Bistrica. This will be the fourth edition of the SloEnduro Borovci organised by the Borovci Mountain Bike Association. The first edition was held in 2022, and the year before they held a SloEnduro 4Fun event.
Competition
A record number of competitors, 257 from ten countries, have registered for the race in Ilirska Bistrica.
The women’s start list will be a little shorter than in Nova Gorica, with three of the five fastest riders coming, with winner Nežka Libnik (KK Ravne na Koroškem) and Slovakia’s Valentina Grendova (MTBiker) leading the way. In the men’s race, the fastest four are back – Slovak Luboš Staňo (MTBiker), Hungarian Áron Babó (Rad Company Racing Team), Italian Simone Leo (Gencon Racing Team) and Slovenian Miha Smrdel (MBK Črni Vrh).
All those who messed it up in Nova Gorica and were therefore far from the top have another chance this weekend.

Always Something New at Borovci
The building team of the Borovci, led by Matej Krebelj, is tireless and this year there is also something new on the course.
The lower part of the third stage, which is also a Shimano SuperStage, is completely new. It runs on natural terrain, winding through trees, through compressions and over roots, sometimes tight and sometimes open.
The Lisička (Fox) stage returns, the lower part of stage 4, which was also in the race last year but has since been closed.
The sixth stage, Topol, will be in the race for the first time, but the trails itself is not new. It passes above the Sušec waterfall and descends right to the town. The start and finish are faster, but there is a steep, tight and slow section in between.
Course details
For Spectators
There is a lot to see on the course. You can walk from the event area to the sixth stage. The third, fourth and fifth stage can be reached from the Črne njive parking, while the first and second are most easily reached by bike or car. The most attractive points for spectators are marked in yellow on the map.
Venue
The start area will be at the well-known location in the Nada Žagar Park and the neighbouring farmers’ market, with parking and team facilities nearby.
Schedule
On Saturday the training session starts at 11:00 and on Sunday the first competitor starts from Nada Žagar Park at 9:30. The exact timetable for the start of the stages follows.

Weather
A few days ago it was still looking like a wet Saturday morning, but it’s only likely to get wet on Friday, then it should be dry all weekend, with more sunshine on Saturday and cloudy on Sunday, with temperatures in town between 15 and 18 degrees, and a few degrees lower on the hill.
To Top it Off … Parade and Concert!
On Saturday, from 10:00, the event venue will be enlivened by “Vizita”, a local custom from the days when local young men were recruited into the Austro-Hungarian army. It includes a procession of decorated carts. Read more
