The most classic of the Slovenian enduro races, the Kamplc Enduro in Ajdovščina, to open the new SloEnduro season this Sunday, May 23. This will also be the 2021 Slovenian National Championships race.
The Kamplc Team starting holding their enduro race back in 2011 at the nearby Javornik ski resort and bike park and then moved it to their home trails above the town of Ajdovščina in Vipava Valley, Western Slovenia. Last year they finally got their home win with Tim Jež and women’s win also didn’t go far – to Idrija with Tina Smrdel (MBK Črni Vrh).
Last’s year’s attendance with just 71 riders was just lined up with the 2020 corona season. This year’s list of registered riders is already much longer two days before registration deadline with well over 100 riders from Austria, Hungary, Italy and Slovenia.
At the 9th edition of Slovenian Enduro National Championships Tina Perše and Vid Peršak will be defending their 2020 titles from Kočevje.
All in one day
As already announced the SloEnduro management, consisting of organizers and teams representatives, decided to go with single day events this year. Partly because of lower costs in another not so great year for sports events but also to ensure the opportunities for course training as equal as possible for locals and guests from other parts of Slovenia and other countries alike.
So in Ajdovščina (and at other 2021 venues) they will announce the course on Friday and mark it on Saturday but course training will not be allowed yet, just course walking. On Sunday from 9am all participants will first have one practice run through the complete course, followed by a timed race run starting at 11.50.
There will be three special stages. There were be no new trails built for the occasion but the course setting will create different tracks for the special stages. Total elevation of both laps will be about 1500 m. U17, U15 and Hobi category course will be shorter.
It looks like the conditions will not be too dusty.
Limitations and testing
According to the new anti-Covid-19 regulations in force from Monday all participants (team staff included) need to hold negative results of a quick antigen test, not older than 72 hours.
There will be no spectators allowed within the race venue which represents the start and finish area in Pale sports park in Ajdovščina.
Please see here for latest information on entering Slovenia.
Rider briefing!
Regarding the situation and new race format there should be some of questions from the team and riders so all registered riders will receive an invitation to a Zoom meeting which will be held Thursday evening.
