First enduro race in bike park Schöckl was held last Sunday, organised within the SloEnduro 4Fun series. Since enduro races are rare in Austria, it was expected to have a great interest for the event. Organizers limited the spots on entry list to maximum of 150 riders and they didn’t have a lot of problems filling this quota.
Weather forecast changed some plans for the riders later on, so we saw 115 riders finishing the race after a small drama with the weather. First plan was to have four different stages with bringing the riders to the top with a cable car. But just when the race was about to start, a big thunderstorm came over the area so organizer was forced to stop the gondola and postpone the start of the race for one hours. After the wait, conditions where not changed much, so organizers decided to shorten the race to only two bottom stages, to which riders had to climb by themself completely.
In the absolute category Daniel Schemmel (Cube Action Team, AUT) was fastest on both stages and was happy to book another victory. The nearest rival behind him was Matthias Stonig (MS Mondraker, AUT), while the last spot on the podium went to Mario Schneeweis ( Radlager Racing Division, AUT). Top five were rounded out by Peter Mlinar (KK Črn Trn, SLO) in Martin Höller (PC Stoahupfa Lebnitz, AUT).
In the women’s competition Petra Bernhardt (RC Gravity Eagles Austria) was the fastest rider with 40 seconds advantage over second placed Kathrin Wutte (RC Andasbiken, AUT). Yana Dobnig (RLM Mondraker Racing Team, AUT) managed to take the third spot on the podium.
In Master 1 category Bernd Dorrong (Radlager Racing Division, AUT) was the fastest rider, while Cri Maierhofer (Radlager Racing, AUT) managed to outrun everybody in Master 2 category. Hobi category was dominated by Leopold Köllner (RC Andasbiken, AUT).
