Hello, SloEnduro family. The first race of the season is approaching, and here are the new rules from the Mountain Biking and BMX Commission of the Slovenia Cycling.
What’s new in the rules for the discipline of enduro?
Amateur on shorter course
A major change for the amateur category—they will no longer compete with the elite and others on the long course; instead, they will join the U17 categories on a course that generally has one less stage, or between 800 and 900 meters of elevation. (Article 94)
Learning on flat (pedals)
And another important change for the youngest riders in the under-13 category: clipless pedals are prohibited; flat pedals are mandatory. (Article 95).
Entry fees
Following an agreement with the organisers and clubs, we are increasing the entry fees after a couple of years. For categories on the long course (except juniors), the fee will now be 55 euros, €45 for junior men and women and amateurs, €32 for junior women and junior girls, €40 for 5Fun category competitors, €30 for U15 boys and girls, and €23 for U13 boys and girls. (Article 97)
On your marks
A new rule regarding the marking of the start of the special stages stipulates that the start must be clearly marked with a sign and a line on the ground. (Article 99)
Wear your helmets
Attention riders who are not fans of wearing helmets on transfers! A 30-second time penalty will be imposed upon the first warning, and disqualification upon the second warning in the same race. (Article 106)
Using your POV camera
Article 109 is new and governs the use of cameras. You may record footage during both practice and the race, but only with a camera attached to your helmet visor.
So, there aren’t that many changes. However, it never hurts to read through the entire rulebook again. And if you’ve never read it before, well, it’s mandatory.
