Krvavec is a well promising destination for all mountain bike enthusiasts. When we add the word “enduro”, we are sure we will get your 100% attention. The organizers from ŠD Bam.bi did a great job with releasing their idea of Enduro Krvavec under the SloEnduro series.
The event will be held at an incredible location, on a trail with a large altitude difference and with a chance to use a cable car of RTC Krvavec for transfers. The only disadvantage of the place is that there aren’t many different trails suitable for enduro, but local trail builders thought of combining several kilometers in a one long downhill and they were building it during the whole last season.
Organizers wanted to show off their new attraction to the public – and came up with the idea of holding a race event on this long downhill trail. There is a ski resort on the top of the mountain which gives a unique possibility of a mass start.
So the decision was made: race from top of Krvavec all the way down to the valley on May 30th. Who will come first?
Organizers are already giving out some basic information about the event. Anže Bizjak, conceptual leader of new trail building and race organization, gave us some information: “The race will start at noon because we wanted to give opportunity to examine and train the trail in the morning as a part of agreement with one day 4Fun events, so the competitors do not need to come days before the race to get to know the course. Cable car will make it possible to ride the trail at least 3 to 4 times before the race starts, so plenty of time is given to get to know it well. The cable car will run untill 12:00h and all bikers (even those who do not compete, but still wish to ride it) are welcome to use it for free. After this hour the qualification runs will start. Competitors take the qualification run one by one. The start is set at top station of cable car and the finish on the road to Štefanja Gora. Total height altitude difference of qualification run is approx. 700m.”
Finals: final run will take place in the afternoon with a break after the qualification for some bike maintenance, lunch or maybe even an additional training run on the trail. And of course, for pedaling or walking the transfer up to the start of the final run (approx. additional 300m height altitude difference from cable car top station), because the start line is just under the top of Krvavec mountain.
The final trail will start on a dirt road for easier distribution of racers and will lead towards Kriška planina and back to Gospinca – to create a loop on a wide road which will give some distance between racers before they reach the trail. From the top cable car station at Gospinca the fun will start. This completely new trail has a nice flow in majority of the path and is suitable for a wide range of mountain bikers. It also gives opportunities for a short break to stretch the arms or to safely pass other competitors. The final run will go on from where the qualification run finishes – ahead through the woods and all the way down to the finish at the bottom cable car station.
The whole trail is 11km long and has 1300m altitude difference. Time of the best racers is expected to be around 25min.
Main venue will of course be on the sunny top of Krvavec for the best experience of the event.
