After day one of Black Hole Enduro, round four of SloEnduro series, held in neigbouring regions of Kaernten (Austria) and Koroška (Slovenia) as part of Black Hole Bike Festival, Austrian Petra Bernhard and Slovenian Vid Peršak, both of Team Dorrong, are strongly in the lead.
Riders from nine countries raced on the new Thriller trail today on the Austrian side of Petzen mountain. The trail was built next to the world famous FlowCountry trail and is now 5 km long with just uner 1000 m of elevation drop.
Petra only had one rival to beat, another Austrian Yana Dobnig (RLM Mondraker Racing Team), but with 35th time overall she was also faster than almost two thirds of male riders.
Vid was by far fastest across the thousands of slippery stones and roots on the Thriller. The SloEnduro leader set the time of 11 minutes and 11 seconds and was no less than 57 seconds faster than second placed Austrian Matthias Stonig. Another Austrian Gerd Skant (Team Dorrong) was third 1:12 down on the winner.
Slovenians Nejc Huth (Energijateam.com), Peter Mlinar (KK Črn trn), Davor Kacin (Kamplc Racing Team) and Robert Kordež (Black Hole Enduro Team) followed from 4th to 7th place, Austrian Cri Maierhofer (Team Dorrong was 8th, Danish rider Frederik Leth 9th and Slovenian Nace Krivonog (Black Hole Racing Team) 10th.
“I was going for a flowy ride, the track was too long for super agressive racing, and I succeeded,” said Vid who is defending his lead on Sunday in three special stages at Jamnica close to his home village of Šentanel.
The second one, the longest of the day, has been chosen as Kenda SuperStage. It’s about 7 minutes long and the second part is a wrestling match with wet roots and rocks in Koroška jungle setting. Together with Kordež and Jaka Močilnik Vid shot this stage preview video.
In these conditions the gaps could grow tomorrow or the ranking could turn up side down…
Vid takes off from Eko Hotel Koroš to the star of SS1 with number 1 one plate at 10am.
