Series points and EWS qualification ranking points up for grabs this weekend on Petzen and Jamnica while we wait how the 2018 EWS bid turns out.

The fifth edition of the classic mountain bike enduro race, the Black Hole Enduro, part of the Black Hole Bike Festival in Koroška region in Northern Slovenia, opens the second half of the SloEnduro series season. After Grožnjan, Basovizza and Cerkno racing resumes after a two-month break.

New schedule on both sides of the border

The race traditionally started with Friday night prologue in Ravne and continued at Jamnica and its surroundings, then some extra racing or riding followed on Sunday. There will be no prologue this time and the racing starts on Saturday June 29th with morning training runs in Jamnica Singletrail Park. In the afternoon the international convoy – riders from 8 countries registered so far – moves to Petzen mountain on the Austrian side to get to know the new Thriller trail by gondola ascent. The first special stage of the weekend with some 1000m elevation drop starts there at 4pm.

Black Hole Enduro already visited Petzen in 2015 and used the FlowCountry trail in the race.

On Sunday July 30th three special stages will follow at Jamnica with some 900m of climbing/descending. Number one will take off from the EkoHotel Koroš at 10am and the riders will be finishing their rides after 2pm. After the award presentation, some of the toughest will hit the trails again for the »pit stop enduro« mass start race before they finally join the pool party.

Special stages will be announced on series website on Thursday and registration closes the day before.

Koroška for World Series

During the closing festival weekend the organizers will be eager to hear from the Enduro World Series headquarters about the 2018 calendar since Black Hole Enduro is bidding to host a round. This year’s edition is also on the Enduro World Series Qualifier calendar.

Vid on his home dirt

Vid Peršak remains undefeated and strong in the SloEnduro series lead after three events. The Šentanel local will be racing right next to his home trails. He is followed in the ranking by two Austrians, the team mate Gerd Skant (Team Dorrong) and Manuel Gruber (URC Bikestore.cc) who is not yet confirmed to appear. Slovenian Nejc Huth (Energijateam.com) is fourth, followed by three with same number of points: Slovak Peter Drabik (Kaktus bike), Slovenian Sebastjan Stres (Kamplc) and Austrian Kevin Maderegger (Ghost Factory Racing Riot).

In women’s ranking the leader Petra Bernhard (Aut, Team Dorrong) is returning after a trip to downhill racing. Italian Giulia Albanese (Caprivesi) caught up with her in the meantime and the other Austrian Yana Dobnig (RLM Mondraker) also climbed close.
